      • Greater Moncton has lots of kids martial arts options. Why choose Muay Thai?

        Teaching the right values

Like most martial arts, Muay Thai instills values such as discipline, perseverance, and respect. At a time when children are exercising less than ever, Muay Thai can be a fun and inexpensive way to engage kids, especially young-to-teenaged boys, in physical activity. At Spitfire, your child will not just exercise, he or she will learn HOW to exercise, a skill that will hopefully keep them fit and healthy throughout their entire life, and an aspect of physical education that has been lacking in schools forever.

        Low commitment

Being free to try, with a startup cost of $200 followed by monthly membership payments of just $85, Muay Thai is a low-commitment activity that is likely to engage your child more than you might think.

        A useful Outlet

At a certain age, many youths and teens feel a need to learn how to fight and test themselves physically. This can be an unsettling period for parents, who worry that their kids will get into trouble or injure themselves, but a sport such as Muay Thai can be the perfect outlet and proving ground for them. Muay Thai gives youths and teens a place to learn and test themselves in a controlled environment with a low rate of injury and a very low rate of serious injuries like broken bones or concussions. There is a significant difference between what goes on in the training room and what goes on in the ring or cage, but the training still feels intense, challenging, and satisfying. In addition, there are strict rules against using the skills learned at the gym outside of the gym, as well as a simple reward system that helps to instill a sense of self-governance in our younger students. Many of those who have trained with us at a younger age say that they quickly developed a sense of loyalty, gratitude, and belonging towards the Gym which encouraged them to stay out of trouble.
